Thai cats and Thai Royalty

Documented instances of connections between Thai cats and the Thai Royal Family.

Kamnan Preecha's photo

This very rare photo at Kamnan Preecha's house shows HM King Bhumibol (right), when still a Prince, with his sister HRH Princess Kanlayani Vadhana and brother HM King Ananda Mahidol (left), when still King. This looks like a mother Siamese and a litter of three, presumably including "Tito" and "Tita"*, although the cat at left looks older.

"I Do" magazine

To inspire couples contemplating marriage, "I Do" magazine issued a small supplement in 2010 recounting the story of the courtship, marriage and young family of their majesties the King and Queen. Two cat pictures appeared. The most interesting one here below appears to be "Tito" again*.

Why HM the Queen is carrying this black and white cat, and where it comes from, will probably remain forever unknown.

SEA Games presentation

HRH Princess Vanvari Mahidol, the youngest daughter of HRH Prince Vajiralongkorn, the Crown Prince, with a Korat kitten presented to her by K Chuchai at the opening ceremonies of the 24th South East Asian Games in Korat in December, 2007. The idea to present the cats came from the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima who contacted Chuchai, who made the presentation himself, a girl and a boy each about 5 months old. This photo is hung in a prominent position in Chuchai's house in Phimai.
